19-year-old charged after multiple break-ins and police pursuit
A man has been charged after multiple alleged breaks in the state’s north-west over the past three weeks, and a pursuit.

Officers attached to Central North Police District’s Rural Crime Prevention Team - NSW Police Force (RCPT) commenced an investigation into a multiple break and enter offences in the Nyngan and Cobar areas including:
• A break-in home on Frederick Street, Cobar, between 5pm on Sunday 26 January 2025, and 3.10pm on Monday 27 January 2025, where a motorcycle and a helmet were stolen.
• A break-in at a home on Oxley Street, Nyngan, about 10am on Thursday 6 February 2025, where a torch, a wallet and a number of clothes were stolen.
• A break-in at a business on Wambiana Street, Nyngan, about 1.30am last Saturday (15 February 2025), where a Ute and a motorcycle were stolen.
About 9.20pm on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District were patrolling Manildra Street, Narromine, when they attempted to stop the ute alleged to have been stolen from Nyngan.
When the driver failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated before extra resources from Central North Police District and PolAir were called to assist.
A short time later, the pursuit was terminated on Lower Castlereagh Street, Gilgandra in the Orana Mid-Western Police District, where the vehicle was abandoned, and the driver allegedly left the scene on foot.
A Dog Unit was called to assist, and a 19-year-old man was arrested in bushland nearby.
Police seized the ute and a knife with both sent for further examination.
He was taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged by detectives with five offences,
• Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously
• Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
• Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
• Custody of knife in public place, and
• Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner.
The man was also charged with two outstanding warrants for the offences of
• Break and enter house etc steal value less than or equal to $60,000
• Break and enter dwelling-house etc with intent(steal), and
• Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner.
The man, from Nyngan, was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Wednesday, February 19, 2025), where he was again refused bail to appear at Nyngan Local Court on Monday (February 24, 2025).
