Attend ‘A Christmas Wonderland’ and remember to Shop Local

As reported on this week’s front page, ‘Tis the season!’ - festive season is upon us! And with that comes the opportunity to celebrate as a community, enjoying all that surrounds us and reflecting on the year that was at the upcoming ‘A Christmas Wonderland’ event.

Gilgandra Shire Council says that “Miller Street will sparkle and shine with festive cheer with festivities” including:

- Late night shopping,

- Shop Local Major Draw– winner must be present to claim!

- A visit from the Jolly Fella in Red,

- Santa Photos with Hayley Altmann Photography,

- Gilgandra CWA Markets,

- Gilgandra Lions Chocolate Wheel Raffles,

- Elf on the Shelf

- Live music entertainment from BADJ,

- Face painting… and so much more!

“It is exciting to welcome back A Christmas Wonderland to Miller Street,” said council’s activations and communications manager, Merscia Kouroulis.

“The event is an opportunity for our community to get together and celebrate the season, while also continuing to ShopLocal and support local businesses ahead of the big day.

“Council would like to commend all of our Gilgandra Region businesses for their resilient, innovative and tenacious efforts throughout 2024 and thank them for their feedback through the Shop Local Christmas period.

“Keep your eyes peeled for all of our local business’s special efforts on the night! A Christmas Wonderland is great time to catch up with friends, family, neighbours, and all your favourite community members.

“Thank you to all the local businesses, individuals and community groups for their involvement, it’s going to be a great way to end the year together! We look forward to seeing you all there!”

#LocalLegends providing the food, drinks, special activities and Late Night Shopping in Miller Street so far are set to include Koda Café, Café 41, Kildari Collective, Gilgandra Lions BBQ, Drovers Choice Saltbush Lamb and Dippin’ Dots ice cream, The Rustic Burrow, The Blonde Space, Openway Bookstore, Victory Lap Sports, Thompson’s Flooring Centre, Toned on Castlereagh, Glossed Hair by Sim, Gilgandra Community Op Shop, Central Stores, This N That, Windmill Crafts, Gilgandra Mitre 10, and Western Farm Machinery – who are setting up shop in Miller Street!

Local businesses within the Gilgandra LGA are also encouraged to enter the Business Christmas Display Competition, and be in the running to win 1x $300 Cooee Cash Card.

During the celebration of A Christmas Wonderland community event, council has advised that Miller Street will be closed between the Bridge Street intersection and before Castlereagh Street (Newell Highway) intersection to Miller Street.
