Wednesday’s social bowls

A great field of 20 bowlers enjoyed a game of social bowls last Wednesday, September 11.

The winners of the afternoon were the father and daughter combination of Rambo and Kelly Young who defeated James Rogers and Jayden Doran, 20–12.
Sunday social bowls had 10 starters with the winners being Shayne Barwick and Wenden Riley in defeating Andrew Townsend and Dylan Marchant, 20-10.

Championships action
On the Championship scene there were two games played over the weekend.

On Saturday in the B-pairs, Bob Rogers and David Duffy defeated Tracey Riley and Matt Thompson in a very close game, 19-15.

Duffy awarded the player of the match award to an opposition player being Tracey Riley. Duffy and Rogers now move into the final of this event.

In A-pairs on Sunday Mouse Holland and Rambo Young had a very convincing win against Bill Gale and Blake Cook to the tune of 28-2.

Third round of Battlers Shield in Warren
Twelve keen bowlers headed west to Warren on Saturday, September 14 for the third round of the Battlers Shield.

Gilgandra won the day and are now leading the competition with one round left to play at Mendooran.

A great day out was had by all particularly Shayne ‘Shoey’ Barwick who played spectacular bowls on the day and also relished the role of skip in the third game.

In also gaining a win on Sunday, Shayne was therefore named player of the week along with Rambo who also deserved this award, although Rambo did have the advantage of importing a Dubbo player for Wednesday bowls and having a cheer squad of a few family members in his championship game on Sunday.

Glenbrook bowlers coming to Gil
This coming weekend will be huge with the Glenbrook bowlers making their annual visit to the Club.

On Friday will be the Mountains verses Plains followed by the Windmill triples all day Saturday and Sunday morning.

Sunday afternoon will be the ‘Bulldog’ Irvin memorial bowls event.

Social bowls on Thursday this week
Bowlers please note that social bowls this week will be held on Thursday instead of Wednesday to enable some of the Glenbrook team to have a bit of a roll up before the weekend starts.
