There were 9 bowlers for social bowls last Wednesday February 5. The winners with the highest winning score were James L’Homme, Ed Wlodarczyk (swinger) and Dave Jones who defeated the Godber twins and Bob Rogers, 15-4.

Saturday bowls was the Wenden Riley 50th birthday bowls, beer and karaoke celebration. A great roll up of 24 players participated in this event.

The winners were the Raines crew being, Harmony, Trista and Fox who defeated Michele Doherty, Stacey Reynolds and Dylan Marchant, 15-9.

The runners up were Dave Jones, Lyn Tate and Maxine Elsom who had a win against Clay Mallison, Darky Ruttley and Rambo, 16-13. A few standout bowlers were Graham Bugmy, Steven Carter, Trista Raines and Darky Ruttley. A great time was had by all.

Two games of 21 up were played on the weekend. First up was the match between Maxine Elsom and Shaun Marchant. On the 12th of the 20 ends played,  Maxine had a 11-7 lead. Seemingly liking the number 11 she stayed on that score for the next 7 ends while Shaun skipped away in going on to win, 20-12. Well done Shaun!

The next game resulted in the ‘comeback kid’ Evan Kew, defeating Dylan Marchant, 21-11. This was a good win for Evan considering he has only just started up bowls again and defeating one of the top bowlers at the club.

The one game of 150 Consistency saw a hard fought win go to the ‘birthday boy’ Wenden against Mouse Holland with the final score being 151-145 in Wenden’s favour.

This was a great game with the lead changing hands on many occasions. Just when Mouse looked to be gaining the upper hand on the 24th end in leading 120-106, Wenden put his head down over the next 7 ends and toughed it out to gain the win against the very experienced Mouse.

Pennants will start this Sunday February 16 with both the 5’s and the 7’s playing at home.

The teams for the 5’s against Cobar are, team 1, Jo Raines, Blake Cook, Dylan Marchant and Noel Raines.

Team 2, David Duffy, Maxine Elsom, Brent McKenzie and Danial Riley. Team 3, Mal Altmann, Shaun Marchant, Rambo and Garry Raines.

The 7’s will play Gulgong with the teams being, team 1, Larry Clark, Jayden Doran, Rod Howchin and Gil Riley.

Team 2, Shayne Barwick, Mouse Holland, Baden Fisher and Norm Lummis. Team 3, Andrew Townsend, Leroy Gregory, Evan Kew and Wenden Riley.
