Wednesday’s social bowls
Twelve bowlers enjoyed a game of social bowls last Wednesday, February 12.
The winners with the highest winning margin were Bob Rogers, Rod Howchin and Jayden Doran who defeated James L’Homme, Bruce Parker and Dylan Marc-hant, 17-11.
The remaining game saw a win go to Mal Altmann, Dave Jones and Garry Garbutt in defeating Ed Wlodarczyk, Larry Clark and Gil Riley, 14–12.
Two games of fours championships were played on Saturday.
The team of Bruce Parker, Leroy Gregory, Baden Fisher and Fox Raines defeated Lloyd Gwyn, Jo Raines, Evan Kew and Dylan Marchant, 18-12, while Lucy McKenzie, Bob Dicks, Mouse Holland and Garry Raines had a win against Mal Altmann, Ed Wlodarczyk, Gil Riley and Danial Riley, 21–12.
Round one of pennants a tough day for Gilgandra’s two teams
The first round of pennants was played on Sunday, February 16 in Gilgandra.
Unfortunately there wasn’t any home ground advantage for either the number five or the number seven teams.
The fives were defeated by Cobar 62-43 with the overall score of 9-1. The Fox Raines team were the only winners on the day when they had a one-shot victory with the score being 21-20. The Danial Riley skipped team were defeated 21-13 as were the Garry Raines team who went down, 21-9.
The sevens were also soundly beaten by Gulgong 76-51, 10-0 with two games being very close and one game being very far away.
The Gil Riley skipped team were narrowly defeated 19-18. The Evan Kew team were also unlucky in going down by only two shots.
I’m not sure what went wrong with the Norm Lummis team which also included Shayne Barwick, Mouse Holland and Baden Fisher who are all very handy bowlers.
These lads were defeated 37-15, with Mouse being quite confident in the early stages of the game. Better luck next time boys.
Next Sunday (February 23) the fives will be on the road to Baradine. Bus to Baradine will leave the club at 8.15am.
Only one team change with Evan Kew replacing Shaun Marchant. The sevens will be staying home to get in some practice, as they have the bye.
