The Garry Raines’ team took the lead on the third end and were never headed in going on to win 23-13.
Rambo’s team did make a few comebacks during the game but it wasn’t enough to peg back the opposition. The standout player in this game was Lucy McKenzie who played great bowls for her team. Kayleb, who was having his first go at championships, also played very good bowls.
The next game was between Michele Doherty, Shayne Barwick, Shaun Marchant and Brent McKenzie and the team of Dave Jones, Ted Stewart, Jayden Doran and Norm Lummis. Brent’s team ran out the winners with the score being, 23-10. Michele also played great bowls.
150 Consistency Final
The main event of the bowls week was the final of the 150 Consistency. This game was played between the current B-grade champion, Wenden Riley, who was up against one of the most experienced bowlers at the club, Rambo Young.
This game was very close up until the eighth end when Wenden skipped away to a 48-30 lead.
As this game is about consistency the never give up Rambo was always going to get back into the game and that he certainly did when took the lead on the 16th end.
On the very next end Wenden regained the lead and went on to have a 153-135 win. Congratulations Wenden!
Rambo might have lost the game but the highlight of his day was his number one cheer leader Kelly Young turning up for the game with a ‘Go Rambo’ poster.
Rambo also won the bowler of the week award in having played 87 ends of bowls across four games.
Pennants
On the pennants scene Gilgandra number five’s team had a very good win at home in defeating Baradine, 71-51 for an overall score of 9-1/2 to 1/2. This score is based on Gil winning the score on the board and also winning two games and a draw.
Next Sunday both pennant games will be at home with the fives taking on Bourke while the sevens will play Binnaway. Good luck to both teams.
