Wednesday's social bowls on March 19, Saturday evening bowls, Fours Championships semi-final and pennants action – Gilgandra number five teams progress to next section.

Wednesday’s social bowls
There were 10 starters for social bowls last Wednesday March 19.
The winners were Mal Altmann and Bruce Parker who defeated the Godber twins being Phil and Dave, with the score being 18-13.
Saturday evening bowls
The winners of Saturday evening bowls were Leroy Gregory, Shaun Marchant and Evan Kew. These lads defeated Shayne Barwick, Bob Dicks and Garry Raines, 18-11.
Fours Championships semi-final
The semi-final of the Fours Championships were played on Saturday, March 22.
The Noel Raines skipped team which also included Bruce Parker, Leroy Gregory and Baden Fisher, defeated Michele Doherty, Shayne Barwick, Shaun Marchant and Brent McKenzie in very close game, 17-16.
Noel’s team will now meet brother Garry’s team in the final of this event.
Pennants action – Gilgandra number five teams progress to next section
Moving on to Sunday, March 23 it was a must win for the Gilgandra number five pennants team who were competing in the last round of the Mid-West Region section three pennants division and win they did after a nail biting finish against the Bourke team.
With a win to Noel Raines team and a loss for the Danial Riley team recorded in the first two completed games it was up to the team of Mal Altmann, Evan Kew, Rambo Young and Garry Raines, who needed to win their game to secure a victory for the Gilgandra team.
These four chaps, with nerves of steel, fought to the very end which resulted in a great win with the score being, 18-16. The overall score, Gilgandra 56-52, 9-1. Well done bowlers!
The Gil team now moves into the next section which will involve teams from Molong and Orange, to be played at Dubbo City on April 12.
Unfortunately the number seven pennants teams season has ended when they were defeated by Binnaway, 72-36, 9-1.
Rod Howchin’s team were defeated 21-9 while Wenden Riley’s team suffered a 40-7 loss in their game. Norm Lummis’ team were the only victors on the day when they had a 20-11 win.
