Cruise into Christmas at Gil Alive concert

Get ready to begin the silly season as Gilgandra Alive presents ‘Cruisin’ into Christmas’ this weekend.

The concert is being held to ring in the beginning of the Christmas season and help the fundraising to buy a new drum kit for the town’s use. This initiative is being organised by the late Terry ‘Toss’ Nangle’s daughters.

Toss, a long-time local performer, was a prolific drummer, and his drum kit is still used by other local performers to this day. However, age is catching up with the drum kit, and so it needs replacing. Gilgandra Alive will donate funds raised at the concert to the cause.

Cruisin’ into Christmas will feature a vast number of local talents and interests, such as musical numbers, dance, skits, and spoken verse, all mingled with Christmas themes. Concert director Jess Reed said Cruisin’ into Christmas is just one of the new ideas that Gilgandra Alive has in store for the next 12 months.

“This concert is to kick off the Christmas season and will be a great event to be entertained by our wonderful local performers, showcasing a wide variety of talents. Gilgandra Alive is proud to create this opportunity for our local performers, and also for our community to come together,” said Mrs. Reed.

Gilgandra Country Women’s Association Evening Branch is also donating to the event by running the intermission refreshments.
