Championships semi-finals

One thriller, one runaway win in pair of A-grade championships semi-finals over the weekend

The fearless predictor got a 100 per cent strike rate in getting it wrong.

The first game saw a victory go to Noel Raines who led from the on-set in defeating Dylan Marchant, 31-11.

It wasn’t that Dylan didn’t play well, it was the fact that ‘The Fox’ was once again on fire. The second game resulted in a very close win to Danial Riley who defeated Rambo Young, with the final score being 32-30.  Rambo held the lead until the 19th end when Riley pounced, gaining four shots on the 20th end.

Riley then kept the lead until the 27th end when the scores were level at 23-all and anybody’s game once again.

The lead changed hands a couple of times over the next few ends and it was on the 33rd end that Rambo helped himself to three shots and a 30-28 lead and only needing one more shot for victory.

It was on the 34th and what ended up being the very last end that the ‘heartbreaker’

Riley, in needing three shots to win, rubbed salt into the wound by gaining four shots, to win by two shots.

Well done Rambo who took the defeat very well as he does, but disappointingly he didn’t get the chance to celebrate with a rendition of his famous ‘chook song’.

The final of the A-grade Champion-ships will now be played between Danial Riley and Noel Raines.

The fearless predictor is not going to even attempt to pick the winner of this match as it could definitely go either way and will come down to who is on their game on the day. Good luck to both these bowlers.

A very merry Christmas to all our bowlers and club members.
