Get ready for three days packed full of entertainment and fun in Gilgandra

Get ready for a great weekend out! There’s less than a week left to go until the biggest event of the year, Under the Gums, and the Goin’ to Gil Festival Weekend.

A packed schedule has been laid out by the planning crew, spanning from three-days from this Friday. Goin’ to Gil Festival Weekend is a community-wide festival bring together a vast number of interests and events.

The Gilgandra Museum and galleries are open for the weekend, including the new ‘Out There’ Art Exhibition by Judy and Joe Shalhoub, and the Joy Trudgett Gallery, both at the Coo-ee Heritage Centre.

The all-new Gil Library Hub outdoor plaza will also be opened to the public in time for the weekend, a long-awaited milestone for Gilgandra Shire Council.

A parade along Miller Street on Saturday, September 28 will showcase our #LocalLegends, accompanied by live music and the popular Phat Brass outfit.

Interactive mural painting in the Gilgandra Community Plaza is to run alongside. Saturday afternoon will be the return of the Under the Gums music festival. There will be live performances, food and brews, and plenty of activities for the young and young of heart. Make sure to pack for an unforgettable weekend! Bring along:

- A picnic rug or fold-up chairs,

- Sunscreen, a hat, and sunnies to stay sun-safe,

- Cash and card: not all booths may take eftpos!

- And a water bottle to stay hydrated.

To round off the weekend, Gilgandra Tractor and

Machinery Club will host a ‘Show and Shine Swap Meet’.

The Country Women’s Association will hold their monthly markets along Miller Street.

And don’t forget to compete in the ‘Gilgandra Triathlon’: do the colour run, enjoy the Watermelon Eating Competition, and give it your all in the Coo-ee Call competitions.

Donation opportunities across the weekend will result in funds distributed back to local community groups involved in this year’s Goin’ to Gil Festival Weekend.
