Five Gilgandra Little Athletics members competed at the regional carnival at Dubbo on February 1 and 2 with two members now progressing to the state athletics championships at Homebush next month. It was a successful weekend for all Gilgandra athletes that competed. These athletes included Heidi Colwell, Katie Colwell, Regan Godber, Thomas Colwell and Piper Van den Ende.
Gilgandra’s athletes competed in a variety of events from sprints, hurdles, discus, javelin, shot put, long and triple jump to the 1100m walk.
Katie Colwell placed first in the 11 years girls discus, throwing 24.77m and third in long jump while Thomas Colwell won the nine years boys shot put throwing 5.73 metres.
Both Katie and Thomas will now progress in discus and shot put to the State Athletics Championships to be held at Homebush during March. Congratulations to all of our athletes.
