New council begins to take shape

Count for preferences continues

As the count continues this week, four nominees for Gilgandra Shire Council have reached quota and should be elected after Saturday's local government election.

As at 8.30am on Monday, September 16: Ian Freeth (12.28%), Ashley Walker (15.56%), Madeline Foran (12.88%), and Paul Mann (11.78%) have reached over the quota.

Just shy of the quota are Doug Batten (9.92%) and Nicholas White (9.28%).

Greg Peart (7.28%), Gail Babbage (7.23%), Brian Mockler (7.10%), and Amber Bunter (6.69%) are all needing favorable preferences to reach quota.

The pre-poll and both Tooraweenah and Gilgandra first preference count has been completed. Postal votes and preferences are still to come.

3205 electors were enrolled for this election. 2296 formal votes (first preference) have been counted with 98 informal or other votes.
