‘Out There!’ art expo
Local artists Judy and Joe Shalhoub are unveiling a collection of paintings and glasswork as part of their upcoming ‘Out There!’ art exhibition.
The exhibition at the Coo-ee Heritage Centre will be officially opened this month with an afternoon tea event.
Judy Shalhoub said there is no ‘one theme’ behind the couple’s newest exhibition. “I’m just putting in some paintings I’ve done over the years, and Joe has done some glass work for it. Birds, animals, platters, he’s done all sorts.” All items on display will be for sale.
Judy said she has put over 40 pieces into the exhibition, while Joe likely has “over 100” ready. As part of the exhibition, 20 per cent of all sales will be donated to the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) and Wings4Kidz evenly.
“The RFDS have a clinic in town, and they do great things for [Gilgandra],” said Judy. “I’ve only recently heard of Wings4Kidz work, flying children down to Sydney instead of letting them drive down hours each day in a car. Ten per cent of our profits will go to the RFDS, and another 10 per cent will go to Wings4Kidz.”
