Panthers 2022 presentation
The Gilgandra Panthers celebrated the 2022 season when they held a highly successful awards afternoon at Sporties on Saturday, October 8.
Many of the club’s players and supporters came out for a day to acknowledge the efforts of everyone involved in the Panthers. The awards kicked off with the league tag presentations and Emily Fardell was named the Most Improved player.
Monique Knight then received a Coaches Award for her efforts in her first year playing with the Pinkies. Nicola Murphy was awarded the Reg McEwen trophy for her commitment to the team and the club.
The Player’s Player trophy was won by Shian Chatfield and Mab Fuller won the Pinkies’ Best and Fairest Award after an outstanding season.
A shortened reserve grade competition was held in the second round of the 2022 season and proved very popular with both players and supporters.
The Panthers proved to be very competitive in this comp and just fell short of a grand final spot when they lost the final at Narromine.
A few awards were handed out and a player of the future, Caleb Sutherland, was awarded an encouragement award.
Lachie Nyboer received the Most Improved Award while Joe Alchin was named Best and Fairest in reserve grade. The first grade awards then followed.
Panther young gun, Ty Sutherland won the Ernie Knight Rookie of the Year Award. Kyle Welsh was named the Most Improved Panther, with his big finish to the year, and another youngster Mason Louie received the John Farragher Encouragement Award.
Evan Ryan was awarded the Chris Nelson Memorial award for Best Back following his outstanding year and Kylie Louie received the Vic Brain Award for Club Person of the Year. After a short break in proceedings the final awards were presented.
The Panthers two best players all year really scooped the pool when they shared the final awards. Anthony Harris capped off a great year with the Panthers when he received three awards including, the Old Boys Player of the Year, also the Player’s Pl-ayer award and The Gilgandra Weekly Best and Fairest Player. Blake Frost was then presented with the Gilgandra Services Club Most Consistent Player and was further rewarded for his outstanding efforts with the in 2022, being also named the Gilgandra Panthers Player of the Year. That winds up the activities for the year for the Panthers and they now look forward to their annual general meeting and onwards and upwards for season 2023.
