We have all heard the term: “That’s a four-letter word”.
It is almost always used in a negative sense, as in swear words or profanity.
However, there are several good four-letter words found in the bible.
Here are just a few:
· Save
Jesus came to seek and “save” the lost (Luke 19:10).
Jesus came to “save” sinners. (1 Timothy 1:15).
The implanted word of God is able to “save” one’s soul (James 1:21).
One who turns a sinner will “save” a soul from death (James 5:20).
· Hope
“Hope” does not disappoint. (Romans 5:5)
Our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ is our “hope”. (1 Timothy 1:1)
Our “hope” is in the 2nd coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thess. 2:19)
We have “hope” of eternal life. (Titus 3:7)
· Work
Christians must be fruitful in every good “work”. (Colossians 1:10)
Christians are to “work” with their own hands. (1 Thess. 4:11)
God’s word equips us for every good “work”. (2 Timothy 3:17)
Don’t be a forgetful hearer but a doer of the “work”. (James 1:25)
· Love
“Love” God with all your heart, soul, mind, & strength. (Mark 12:30).
“Love” your neighbour, including your enemies (Matthew 5:43-48).
“Love” one another for “love” is of God (1 John 4:7).
God showed His “love” to us through His Son (Romans 5:8).
