Shop Local and A Christmas Wonderland returns
Gilgandra Shire Council is again encouraging residents to think about having a positive impact on local businesses while doing their Christmas shopping this year.
The popular Shop Local Christmas campaign is back, with the first draw held last Thursday. The 2023 campaign has $12,000 in Coo-ee Cash Card prizes.
This is the 15th year that the campaign has run in the Gilgandra Region. Campaign organisers said that “each year the program continues to grow and build momentum thanks to the ongoing support and feedback from the community”.
Acting activation and communications manager Merscia Kouroulis said that “in conjunction with Shop Local, council is also welcoming back A Christmas Wonderland!”
“A Christmas Wonderland seeks to embrace the Christmas spirit of kinship and connectivity as we lightup Miller Street for an evening of grazing, shopping, and rejoicing,” said Ms Kouroulis.
“This is an exciting community initiative for the region!
“The event is focused on brining the community together to reflect on the year that was, celebrate thefestive season together, and support our local businesses by shopping locally!”
A Christmas Wonderland will include an evening of festive community fun in Miller Street with late night shopping, a Shop Local major draw, Gilgandra CWAMarkets, jumping castle, a visit from Santa, live entertainment with Tameka Kennedy and Mickey Pye, facepainting, and so much more. The event also includes a full road closure of Miller Street, so shoppers can walk the CBD street at their leisure during the event.
