Solar panels installed at IGA
Carlo’s SUPA IGA Plus Liquor in Gilgandra had approximately 240 solar panels installed.
Carlo’s SUPA IGA Plus Liquor in Gilgandra had approximately 240 solar panels installed last week by a Sydney-based solar business. Smooth Current Electrical and Solar co-directors Jessie Edwards and Troy Phillips were in charge of a team of seven workers. Edwards, who grew up in nearby Coonamble, said this is one of several solar installation jobs his organization had done for the Carlo’s supermarket group. Smooth Current had previously installed solar panels at supermarkets in Tamworth, Warialda, and Coonabarabran.
At Gilgandra, the 240 Trina Tallmax panels each have a capacity of 410 watts, meaning 98,400 kilowatts of energy can be generated collectively. There are a pair of positives for Gilgandra’s Carlo’s local supermarket, manager Garth Mason mentioned. It will provide a green element to business operations and also reduce power costs significantly. Power costs can hover between $18,000 and $25,000 a month currently.
On Wednesday, March 13, the Smooth Current team were hard-at-work atop the Carlo’s SUPA IGA roof while it was business-as-usual below in the supermarket. Edwards said the team spent four days in Gilgandra to complete the task. The team left Cromer in Sydney’s Northern Beaches around 5am on Monday, March 11, and worked through until Thursday, March 14.
