Held on Saturday, October 5, Tooraweenah’s annual show featured a number of great attractions, including horse and rodeo events, a tractor pull, market stalls, and an exhibition pavilion.

There were also rides for the kids: a mechanical rodeo, a jumping castle, and a rock-climbing wall. The Tooraweenah Lion’s Club held a barbecue lunch throughout the day, and businesses from around the region participated in the markets. Athletic and novelty events, like the egg throw, were held for all ages. A rodeo was held in the afternoon, and live music accompanied the show into the evening.

Twice the number of entries were recorded in The Margaret Mockler Pavilion compared to last year, according to Brian Mockler. Sections included fruit and vegetables, cooking, needlework, handicrafts, flowers, fine arts, photography, honey, and wool. “[The Tooraweenah show has had] a good turnout this year,” said Brian Mockler. “Last year was a bit drought-ish. That didn’t help our numbers. But it’s been a thriving day this year.

“I reckon we’ll have double the number of people get involved this year than we did last.”

The Tooraweenah show also featured the opening of the new showground toilet block, completed in conjunction with Gilgandra Shire Council, Lyons Project Management, Castlereagh Concrete and Sheds, among other businesses.
